B&P’s Staff Celebration Day

March 2nd, 2022

How would you reward a team of co-workers who worked so hard and so well through a very challenging season? Being Bill & Paul’s we took them to the slopes, of course!

Our team are not all experts at the activities we represent, but we all enjoy being outside. Working together, we become like family, sharing tales of our adventures, planning new ones, and learning as much about the equipment and clothing for each trip as possible. What better way to thank them all for their efforts than by giving them a day 100% dedicated to enjoying each other’s company and sliding on snow.

We decided to do a “Gone Skiing” closing, where we’d shut the store for a day to take EVERYONE out. We picked a date we felt would minimally impact our customers and chose Timber Ridge Ski Resort as our destination. They, like Bill & Paul’s, are family-owned and were founded in 1961. Many of our team had never been here before (we tend to head north when we have a day off) making it a great opportunity to explore someplace new.

Mid-west skiing and boarding isn’t all about the vertical. The closeness and length of the runs at Timber Ridge allowed us to ride together regardless of abilities, spend time visiting on the hill, and share hoots and hollers from the chairs. Our mid-week visit meant we had almost exclusive use of the resort. For a few hours in the afternoon we took over their tubing hill, an activity even the non-skiers were able to enjoy. Defying gravity is fun no matter how you do it!

Our team is diverse in our approaches to sliding on snow and this setting allowed those who wanted the chance to try new ways of getting down the hill, namely mono-boarding and telemark skiing.

Our private room off the lounge allowed us to eat and visit together throughout the day. The staff at Timber Ridge were wonderful and appreciative of our presence. The room also allowed the next generation of Team Sporthaus a place to play and nap when not with Mom or Dad on the hill.

We had roughly 80% of our staff join in the fun! The time spent together was special. We relived memories and stories from the sales floor and toasted to both new and old co-workers. We created a day full of new memories while learning about Timber Ridge’s history and current operations. Mostly though, we relaxed and enjoyed each other’s company outside the confines of the store in a really fun environment. Thanks to our wonderful customers for allowing us the privledge to close and enjoy the celebration!
