Experience fun, fast mountain biking trails, scenic bike paths, and great trekking land just miles from the metropolitan Grand Rapids area. A fun mix of wilderness and semi-urban racing. Your team will race by bike and on foot (no paddling in this one; see below), navigating roads and natural areas by map and compass. All checkpoints are optional so you can choose the route that’s best for your skills and fitness.

An introduction to the fundamental elements of flat-water kayaking. Learn about different kayak designs, participate in equipment and safety discussions, and practice paddling and safety techniques on the water. Students will have 2-2.5 hours of paddling time available in this program.

Designed for novice to intermediate kayakers, the WMCKA Symposium offers an enriching experience filled with 2 1/2 days of comprehensive kayak instruction, featuring an exceptionally low student-to-instructor ratio. The instructional sessions take place both on and within the calm waters of Big Blue Lake, known for its reliably warm temperatures during the symposium.

Come enjoy our 3-mile course on the Flat River in downtown Lowell where the emphasis is on FUN, but competitive spirits are welcome! . Race activities are centered at the public boat launch north of the Englehardt Library on Monroe St. No entrance fee! Every participant is eligible for the post-race raffle.

 

Enjoy Lowell's Riverwalk Festival in a whole new way. Bill & Paul's will be offering free kayak rides from 12p-3p from the boatlaunch on the Flat River pond north of the library.

 

Save the Date! Gravel Bottom Craft Brewery and Bill & Paul's are teaming up again to deliver the largest and most fun paddling event on the Grand River. More Information Soon. 

 

This is a course designed for new or developing kayakers who want to paddle away from shore or for fitness as well as fun. This 6 hour class will aid in negotiating wind and waves, introduce advanced boat control, and improve your off-shore safety skills.
